Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born on March 4, 1954. O'Hara has won a number of distinctions that include a Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, she was appointed an Officer of Canada. Then, in 2020, she was presented with the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement award. O'Hara became famous as an actress as a member in 1974 of The Second City, an improvisational comedy troupe based in Toronto. She was a part of the principal cast on the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978) along with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd. O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd started work in Second City Television's sketch comedy series (1976-1984). O'Hara received praise for her comic acting and writing skills and was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for a Variety Series in 1982. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the new Second City artistic advisory board led by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
